Roast FAQ

  • A good rule of thumb is to choose pages with the highest traffic and/or most complex functionality, such as forms or media content. If you're unsure, then your home page or landing pages for ad campaigns are a good place to start.

  • Because some page content is typically shared across every page on a domain (such as the navigation and footer sections), we offer a discount on multi-page roasts when requested all at once. Please contact us directly for more information.

  • For "Single Roasts", our typical turnaround time is 72 hours or less. "Endless Roasts" monthly subscribers are given priority with a 48-hour turnaround time. Yes, these timeframes include weekends.

  • The monthly subscription is designed to meet the need for ongoing requests at an even more affordable price. However, to keep this system functional, simultaneous requests will be charged at a discounted “Single Roast” price of $499 in addition to your monthly subscription. Don't worry, you'll still get priority roasts with Trello board capabilities.

    • Accessibility Insights for Web: To perform the roasts, we use Microsoft's “Accessibility Insights for Web” auditing and checklist tool. This tool covers all WCAG 2.1 AA and 2.2 AA requirements.
    • NVDA: NVDA is a popular open-source screen reader. As a part of the roast, we use NVDA to test if users with limited sight are able to quickly and accurately consume your web page's content, such as text and images.
    • MarkUp: In addition to your accessibility report, we use a page marker and annotation tool called MarkUp. Once we have completed your roast, we will provide you a direct link to an interactive overlay of your live webpage complete with markers and annotations, allowing you to easily understand your page's issues and share them with your team. There is no need to sign up for MarkUp or download anything.
    • Trello: For “Endless Roasts” monthly subscribers, we will set up a private Trello board for you and your team, allowing you to easily queue ongoing requests and keep your roasts in one place.

  • To keep our own workflow streamlined, we currently only offer accessibility roasts for webpages. However, we do plan on expanding this service to PDFs and more in the future.

  • Not a chance! AI is simply not capable of holistically disassembling, identifying, and classifying accessibility issues. Accessibility issues are centric to user experiences and thus require human intervention. As a clarification, the automated testing tools we do utilize can only help identify surface problems - the rest is on us.

  • Sometimes, business ebbs and flows - we get it! If you want to take advantage of our "Endless Roasts” monthly subscription perks but you're unsure what your upcoming needs will be, you're welcome to pause your subscription and resume it at a later time so it doesn't go to waste.

  • We do not offer any refunds after a roast has been delivered. If you are interested in the monthly subscription but want to try us out before making the commitment, consider the “Single Roast” option as a trial run.

  • We do not, but we're happy to hook up our customers with a trusted company that specializes in remediation. Reach out for more information.

  • Glad you asked! Accessibility overlays are notorious for being largely unhelpful to people with disabilities, and oftentimes, they can make websites even less accessible. The only way to truly resolve a website's accessibility problems is to tackle the root problems within its code.
